PITTSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A Chatham County man is facing multiple felonies following a standoff at his home last week that left his dog dead and his wife and four-year-old son seriously hurt, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.

According to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on July 17 to a home in the 700 block of Cedar Grove Road in Pittsboro after receiving a call from a woman who reported that her husband assaulted her, attempted to kill her, and was in their home with their four-year-old son.
Deputies said they were able to safely remove the woman from the home when they arrived. While attempting to persuade the suspect to surrender, deputies heard multiple gunshots inside the home. The suspect, 41-year-old Michael Levandoski Jr. of Pittsboro, then left the home without further incident and was taken into custody.

Inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office, deputies found a dog dead with multiple gunshot wounds, along with multiple shell casings and a Smith & Wesson revolver.
According to warrants filed by the sheriff’s office, Levandoski is accused of killing the dog, who was named “Nutter Butter”.
Levandoski also allegedly shot and killed the dog inside the home while his son was present, according to the warrants.

The warrants show Levandoski is accused of strangling and seriously injuring his wife and son. Due to him being trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, his hands and arms are considered dangerous weapons.
The woman and the four-year-old boy were taken to UNC Hospitals for a medical evaluation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said Levandoski was taken to UNC Hospitals for a mental health evaluation. He was then arrested on Monday and charged with:
- Two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with serious injury
- Two counts of assault by strangulation
- Negligent child abuse with serious physical injury
- Felony cruelty to animals
- Discharging a weapon in an occupied dwelling
- Second-degree kidnapping
- Communicating threats
- Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
- Assault on a female
According to records, Levandoski made his first appearance in Chatham County court on Tuesday and returned the following day. His bond was set at a total of $125,000 secured.
Levandoski is scheduled to make his next court appearance on July 29, according to records.
