Friday has been a cloudy and cool day with a few showers as the slow-moving cold front from Thursday stalled out south of our area. This has created a cold air damming, or wedge situation, which will keep us cooler and cloudy Saturday as well. The cold front nearby will also keep moisture pushing into central North Carolina, so as you plan your Friday evening, be prepared for a few showers as well as rain as you wake up Saturday morning.

Saturday will not be a washout. By late afternoon and evening, the rain will start to clear out, leaving mainly cloudy but mostly dry conditions the rest of the day. The clouds will keep temperatures cool, with highs staying in the upper 70s. By Sunday, the sunshine returns and temperatures climb. Sunday will still be a cooler day, but we will return to the mid-80s with mostly dry weather.
As we enter the last week of July, temperatures will warm back up into the low 90s, with weather typical of late July and early August. This means rain chances, but more spotty chances for rain during the afternoon.
FORECAST
OVERNIGHT will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers. The low will be 68. Winds will be out of the northeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
SATURDAY will be mostly cloudy with rain in the morning, then a spotty afternoon storm. The high will be 79. Winds will be out of the north at 5 miles per hour.

SUNDAY will be partly cloudy. The high will be 86. Winds will be out of the north at 5 miles per hour.
