CREEDMOOR, N.C. (WNCN) — Police in Creedmoor are investigating a deadly daytime shooting in a neighborhood on Saturday, officers said.

The shooting was reported around 4:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Irving Place in a neighborhood off South Elm Street in southwest Creedmoor, according to a Creedmoor town news release.
“Upon arrival, officers located an adult victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene,” a Sunday Creedmoor news release said.
Officials said that investigators are “actively working” to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Specifically, Creedmoor officials said the relationship between those involved was part of the ongoing investigation. The name of the person who died was not released.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist with the investigation.
Police said the shooting was “isolated” and there was no “ongoing threat to the community.”
Irving Place is located in the Davenport neighborhood, which contains about 60 homes.
