Pierce Freelon says the project arrives just in time for Juneteenth and Black Music Month. With infectious rhythms and heartfelt storytelling, Black Boy Glow nurtures confidence and connection from an early age.
From the gratitude-filled title track, which pays homage to HBCUs, this album weaves together legacy, self-worth, and the magic of everyday moments.

“I want boys to feel seen. I want them to know they’re loved, and it’s okay to feel. I want boys to know they will be held down and protected by black men who love them. One of the goals of black boy glow is to empower men and encourage men to find a young brother you can mentor, find someone you can scoop up and take under your arms,” he said.
