DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — One person was killed after a fire at a home in Durham on Wednesday morning, officials said.
Emergency crews responded to a single-story house on Wintergreen Place, where firefighters and EMS personnel remain on scene as they investigate. The Durham fire is the second deadly house fire this morning, after a home in Rolesville caught fire early Wednesday.
CBS 17 crews at the scene saw ladders leaning against the roof of the Durham home while hoses, medical equipment and firefighting gear lined the street as first responders worked around the property.

According to the Durham Fire Department, five people were inside the home at the time of the fire, including the victim who later died. Officials have not released any additional information about the person who died or what may have caused the fire.

The fire department said the investigation remains ongoing.
