RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a severe thunderstorm warning Thursday for multiple central North Carolina counties.

Among the impacted areas are northwestern Moore County and western Chatham County. Forecasters issued the warning at 5:48 p.m. after radar indicated a line of severe storms extending from near Troy to near Siler City that was moving north at 20 miles per hour.

The warning is expected to expire at 6:30 p.m. The main hazard with this storm is 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
