Friday cold front could end hot streak in central NC

A weak cold front will move through central North Carolina this Friday, but the relief from the heat will be small and not last long.

After another hot day with a passing storm, Thursday will have similar conditions. Highs will quickly climb back into the mid-90s but with the high humidity it will feel even hotter, closer to 103° across the Triangle.

Hot weather continues on Friday with a similar weather pattern: humid with high heat index values and spotty afternoon storms.

A cold front then arrives Friday, bringing a slight uptick in rain chances and a slight drop in temperatures for the weekend, but it won’t be the comfy cool-down you may be hoping for. Highs will still stay around 90 this weekend with a stray chance for a shower or storm.

Even into next week, everyday has at least a pop-up rain chance until the middle half of next week. By then, more sunshine and dry weather should return to the mix before signs point towards another surge of intense heat for the second half of the month.
