RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service on Saturday issued a heat advisory for the fifth day this week for areas of central North Carolina.

By mid-afternoon Saturday the advisory was also expanded into Durham, Chatham and Wake counties for a new heat advisory on Sunday.
Earlier advisories were issued on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday when heat index temperatures were forecast to exceed 105 degrees.
And, earlier this week some areas south of the Raleigh area were forecast to hit 109 degrees for the heat index.
Also, by Saturday afternoon, forecasters already decided that a heat advisory will also be needed on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The heat advisory on Saturday is for Johnston, Moore, Lee, Harnett, Wayne, Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties, the weather service office in Raleigh said.
The advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday when heat index values of 105 to 109 are expected, forecasters said.
“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,” the weather service said.
Forecasters said residents in the heat advisory area should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned rooms, avoid the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
