Durham filmmaker premieres inspiring documentary on redemption and transformation

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Durham filmmaker Khedron “Hezter Boi” Mims is set to premiere his highly anticipated documentary, “Bull City Turnaround”, at the W.G. Pearson Center on Thursday, Aug. 20th at 5:00 p.m.

The film presents an authentic narrative about the challenges and triumphs faced by Durham residents who have undergone significant life transformations.

Bull City Turnaround features real-life stories of individuals confronting issues such as incarceration, poverty, and domestic violence, showcasing the impact of mentorship and community support in their journeys to redemption.

Mims, who has a personal connection to the film’s themes, believes in the power of second chances and aims to instill hope in viewers.

The premiere will be more than just a screening; it promises an evening filled with live music, guest speakers, and a post-film Q&A.

Mims emphasized the importance of resilience, stating, “Hope drives no matter what you have gone through in your past, knowing that if you learn from your mistakes in life, you can rebound and come back even more successful.”

With the support of the Southern Documentary Fund, Bull City Turnaround aims not only to tell the story of Durham, but also to inspire communities beyond its borders.
