RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Chamber Music Raleigh is set to launch its 85th anniversary season with a performance by the critically acclaimed string quartet Brooklyn Rider on Sunday, August 23.

The ensemble will host two concerts featuring distinct programs at the North Carolina Museum of Art, starting at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the SECU Auditorium.
As part of the Sights & Sounds on Sundays series, these concerts will highlight an exciting 2026–2027 season filled with renowned musicians and diverse musical traditions.

Brooklyn Rider, known for pushing the boundaries of the string quartet genre, combines classical influences with contemporary and international music, having performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and Sydney Opera House.

The afternoon concert, entitled “Chiaroscuro”, will present works by Haydn, Ustvolskaya, Hildegard of Bingen, and Schubert, while the evening program will feature Colin Jacobsen’s “Beloved, Do Not Let Me Be Discouraged”, Philip Glass’ String Quartet No. 2 and Schubert’s String Quartet No. 15.
