Neighborhood HOA issues boil water advisory after north Raleigh line break

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Several areas of north Raleigh had water service restored Sunday after it was cut off, with a boil water order later issued by at least one neighborhood.

A water main break happened Sunday just off Falls River Avenue on Callison Street at Durlain Drive, which is about a block north of The Greenway Club at Falls River.

The Falls River neighborhood and areas of the Bedford neighborhood lost water during the water main break near the traffic circle for Southwalk Lane and Falls River Avenue.

As of 2:45 p.m., crews were visible at the water main break. The City of Raleigh reported that there was a water line break at a fire hydrant, which was later isolated.

At 1:45 p.m., the Falls River neighborhood was told there was an active boil water notice for water intended for drinking or consumption.

“Regardless of whether you lost water, there will be a minimum 24 to 48-hour boil water notice,” an email from Falls River HOA to residents said. “This notice is required any time water pressure drops below safe levels, as it may allow contaminants to enter the water lines.”

Falls River residents were told they will be notified when the system is confirmed safe for normal use.

Raleigh officials said there was no official boil water advisory for the city because service was off for just five minutes.

Raleigh city officials said at 4:30 p.m. that a crew was at the work zone in preparation for a water line repair. There was no timeline for the repair, Raleigh officials said.
