ZEBULON, N.C. (WNCN) — A teenager is facing felony kidnapping charges after a hostage situation was reported in Zebulon over the weekend, police said.

According to the Zebulon Police Department, officers responded on Sunday to a report of an armed person holding people against their will in the 1100 block of Channel Drop Loop.
After officers arrived, according to Zebulon police, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Diego Alberto Rijo of Zebulon, according to police.

A warrant filed by Zebulon police shows Rijo is accused of taking three people hostage, two of whom were not released in safe place.

Rijo also allegedly pointed an AR-style at another person and fired in into the ground, according to the warrant.
Police said Rijo is charged with:
- Two counts of first-degree kidnapping
- Second-degree kidnapping
- Assault with a deadly weapon
- Assault by pointing a gun
- Going armed to the terror of the public
- Two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juveline
- Disorderly conduct
According to court records, Rijo was not given bond. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Wake County court on Monday afternoon.
