CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — Three juveniles wanted in a series of vehicle break-ins in Chapel Hill were arrested following a multi-county chase Tuesday afternoon, police said.

According to the Chapel Hill Police Department, the vehicle break-ins happened between around 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. One incident took place on Franklin Street and Estes Drive and another occurred about three and a half miles away on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Weaver Dairy Road.
That afternoon, according to officials, Chapel Hill police found the suspects in a vehicle heading towards Durham from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Interstate 40. A chase ensued, which the Durham Police Department joined at around 12:15 p.m.
Officials said four suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot after entering Durham. Three of the suspects were taken into custody.
According to Chapel Hill police, the three suspects apprehended are juveniles.
The fourth suspect remains at large as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Durham police.

Chapel Hill police said their vehicle break-in investigation team is working on the case and sharing information with law enforcement throughout the Triangle.
According to Chapel Hill police, officers learned about the first break-in from a 911 call.
“Our community members are critical in helping us with these cases,” Chapel Hill Police Chief Celisa Lehew said in a statement. “Please call 911 if you witness, discover, or have other information about a vehicle break-in, so that we can quickly respond.”
