Sunshine will return to central North Carolina Wednesday after numerous severe storms Tuesday, but it won’t be perfectly sunny as haze from wildfire smoke returns.

The storms ahead of the cold front Tuesday night resulted in numerous severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings leading to a handful of damage reports, power outages and minor flooding, but now that the cold front has moved through, sunshine and dry weather move in to finish up the week and month, along with lower humidity.
Wednesday will also feature another round of hazy skies thanks to wildfire smoke out west. There was some around Tuesday, but it wasn’t as noticeable due to cloudy skies. Temperatures will be warm but not hot Wednesday, topping out in the upper 80s with lower humidity.
The final two days of July, Thursday and Friday, stay dry with plenty of sunshine and comfortably warm temperatures in the upper 80s.
August kicks off Saturday with highs around 90 degrees and mostly dry weather. Sunday and Monday stay warm with better chances of rain, especially Monday.
FORECAST
WEDNESDAY will be mostly sunny. The high will be 88. Winds will be out of the northwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

OVERNIGHT will be mostly clear and comfortable. The low will be 68. Winds will be out of the west at 5 miles per hour.
THURSDAY will be partly cloudy. The high will be 87. Winds will be out of the northwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
