Juvenile injured, taken to hospital after Raleigh shooting at Rock Quarry Road shopping plaza

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A child was wounded in a Saturday afternoon shooting in far southeast Raleigh, police said.

The shooting was reported around 2:25 p.m. at 5416 Rock Quarry Road, a few blocks north of Barnwell Road, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

Police said the shooting happened in the parking lot shared by a small group of stores that include a Dollar General, Pizza Hut, and a vape/tobacco shop.

Police said the juvenile victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that do not appear life-threatening.

Evidence markers — typically used to note the location of spent shell casings — were spotted near the side of the tobacco/vape store.

Police did not have any information about a possible suspect and did not provide any other details about the victim.

In May, a man who was stabbed nearby sought help at the same Dollar General, but the crime did not happen there.

Saturday’s shooting is currently under investigation, according to officers.
