RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina State football will play at home for the first time this season as the Wolfpack look to bounce back from a season-opening loss on the road two weeks ago.

NC State (0-1) will host the Richmond Spiders (2-0) Friday night at Carter-Finley Stadium. Kick off in Raleigh is scheduled for 7 p.m. In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, the Wolfpack will be wearing special jerseys.
Dave Doeren’s team lost at Virginia in a Week 0 non-conference game that was originally supposed to be played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but was eventually moved to Charlottesville. The Wolfpack struggled, losing 34-8. Quarterback CJ Bailey threw for just 84 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception. Backup quarterback Will Wilson accounted for NC State’s only score with a rushing touchdown.

Richmond enters the game on a two-game winning streak to open the 2026 season. The Spiders beat Bucknell 35-14 at home in Week 0, then won 28-21 at Howard in Week 1. So far this season, quarterback Ashten Snelsire has thrown for 460 yards and six touchdowns. Aziz Foster-Powell has paced their ground game, finding the end zone three times across their first two games.
Up next for the Wolfpack is a big test again Vanderbilt. That game is set for Sept. 19 in Nashville.
