Despite all the chaos surrounding the team off the field, Bill Belichick’s squad opened his second season at UNC with a Week 0 win. The Tar Heels defeated TCU 15-10 under rainy Irish skies to take the Aer Lingus Classic. Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards Jr. threw for 232 yards, but Carolina’s lone touchdown came on the ground from running back Jaylen McGill.

ETSU lost to Campbell to open the season, but bounced back to rout Tusculum 48-14 at home last week. Quarterback Mason Mims threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ win. ETSU’s running backs combined for four scores, including two rushing touchdowns from TJ Peyton.
Up next for UNC is a trip to Death Valley. The Tar Heels will play at Clemson on Sept. 19.
