Man charged with attempted murder after shots fired near 2 Goldsboro schools: Police

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A man is facing multiple felonies after shots were fired near two schools in Goldsboro last week, police said.

According to the Goldsboro Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1100 block of Devereaux Street last Friday, Aug. 28.

The alert was issued near Dillard Middle School and Carver Heights Elementary School. Both were placed on lockdown while officers secured the area, according to Goldsboro police.

Police said they identified the suspect as 31-year-old Brandon Devonte Graham of Pikeville. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, discharging a firearm in the city, going armed to the terror of people, and assault with a deadly weapon.

According to a warrant filed by Goldsboro police, Graham is accused of shooting at a man inside a vehicle.

Graham turned himself in to the magistrate’s office on Sunday without incident, according to Goldsboro police.

Records show Graham made his first appearance in Wayne County court on Monday and was given a $1 million secured bond. His next appearance is scheduled for Sept. 14.
