Man shot dead in Fayetteville domestic incident on Harveydale Drive: Police

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A domestic incident led to a deadly shooting in Fayetteville Thursday morning, police said.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded just after 9:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting at a home in the 700 block of Harveydale Drive. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot.

The man died after he was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, according to Fayetteville police.

Police said the suspect and victim knew each other. The suspect and victim were believed to have been involved in a domestic incident before the shooting happened.

According to Fayetteville police, the suspect remained at the scene and is in custody. There is no threat to the public, officers said.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing and officers said more information will be released when it becomes available. As of late Thursday morning, police have not identified the suspect or victim.
