Tuesday’s cold front didn’t help cool things off much in central North Carolina, but another front Friday will drop temperatures more and increase rain chances.

There are still two more days of hot temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, with more highs in the 90s and heat index temps around 100°.
Most of central North Carolina does not have a heat advisory Wednesday, but heat index temperatures will still be around 100°. Only Cumberland and Sampson County have a heat advisory Wednesday with heat index temperatures expected near 105°. Wednesday temperatures will top out near 93 and then rise to 95° Thursday.
Thursday could also see some storms return later in the day after mostly dry weather Wednesday.
The pattern becomes more unsettled late in the week as a cold front slowly approaches central North Carolina. Because of the slow-moving nature of the front, Friday and Saturday currently have the best rain chances of the ten-day period, with showers and thunderstorms becoming more numerous and temperatures dropping into the upper 80s. Rain chances Sunday start to lower.
Temperatures will stay in the upper 80s through most of next week, which while isn’t overly cool, is much closer to average highs for this time of year in central North Carolina.

WEDNESDAY will be partly cloudy with mostly dry. The high will be 93. Winds will be light out of the north.
OVERNIGHT will be mostly clear. The low will be 74. Winds will be northwest at 5 miles per hour.
THURSDAY will be partly cloudy with a few storms. The high will be 95. Winds will be out of the south at 5 miles per hour.
