FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Fayetteville community will be coming together for National Night Out on Tuesday.

The annual celebration is focused on building stronger neighborhoods and strengthening relationships between the community and law enforcement. Fayetteville police said 12 communities are participating.

“This is to show communities, to show criminals that we are not going to tolerate crime in these neighborhoods,” Fayetteville Police Major Shawn Strepay said. “We’re not going to tolerate crime in Fayetteville; the neighborhoods are looking out for one another; neighbors are looking out for one another; we’re here, and we are going to prevent crime and mitigate crime every day of the year.”
