LINCOLNTON, N.C. (WJZY) — A Lincoln County man was arrested last week after being accused of stabbing a woman with a pitchfork.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a home in the 2100 block of Laboratory Road to a reported stabbing in the evening hours of July 20.
Upon arrival, they located a female victim suffering from several stab wounds caused by a pitchfork. The victim was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, where she received treatment for her injuries.
The suspect, 29-year-old Nicholas Andrew Tompkins, allegedly fled the scene.
Lincoln County Det. Glover obtained warrants charging Tompkins with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The next day, deputies located Tompkins, and he was taken into custody without incident.

After his first appearance in court Thursday, Tompkins remains in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $30,000 bond.
In March, Tompkins was indicted on a felony vehicle theft charge stemming from allegations that he stole a Freightliner from Triad Corrugated Metal in Lincolnton. He is awaiting trial in this case.
