It’s a comfortably cool start to the morning before temperatures climb to near 10-degrees warmer than average into the 80s! While today will start sunny, expect increasing clouds ahead of higher rain chances this weekend due to Hurricane Isaias in the Gulf.

Friday will be rain-free and most of Saturday will be dry, but there is the chance for a few scattered showers into the evening hours. Sunday will by far be the wettest day of the weekend, with periods of rain through the day and much of the area picking up 1”+ of much-needed rainfall.
This all comes with the passing of Isaias to the west. It’s the first hurricane of the season and will make a run at major hurricane status before moving ashore somewhere along the Alabama and Florida Panhandle coasts Friday night.
The system will pump tropical moisture into the Carolinas. It isn’t forecast to move directly overhead, but we’ll see the rain from it.
Once the system passes by, much of next week will be on the dry side. Good news for the start of the NC State Fair on Thursday!
