A cold front will approach the area and begin to influence our weather Friday afternoon and evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop, but the better chance for rain will come Saturday as the front stalls nearby.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday. It will not be a washout, but showers and storms will be possible through much of the day, with the best chance coming during the afternoon as temperatures heat up.
A few showers could linger overnight into Sunday morning before the moisture starts to clear out.
Temperatures have started September on a hot note, and this front will not bring a major cooldown. It should keep highs from climbing back into the upper 90s, with temperatures generally near 90 degrees in the afternoons and around 70 in the mornings.
If you’re looking for more noticeable fall-like weather, there are signs of a stronger cold front arriving toward the end of next week. Until then, summer-like heat will remain the main story.

FORECAST
FRIDAY will be partly cloudy and hot with isolated showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon and the evening. The high will be 94 with a heat index around 100. Winds will be light out of the southwest.
OVERNIGHT will be partly cloudy. The low will be 72. Winds will be southwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
SATURDAY will be partly cloudy with scattered showers and storms, with the highest chances of rain in the afternoon and evening. The high will be 89. Winds out of the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
