RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service office in Raleigh issued severe thunderstorm warnings for several counties in central North Carolina Sunday afternoon.

An initial severe thunderstorm warning was allowed to expired at 2 p.m. for Person, Orange, Granville and Durham counties, according to the weather service.
A new severe thunderstorm warning was issued until 2:45 p.m. for southern Granville County and Northern Durham County.

Another set of warnings was issued until 2:30 p.m. for central Moore County, Southwestern Harnett County, Northwestern Cumberland County, Southwestern Lee County and Hoke County.
The 2:30 p.m. expiration warning was triggered by a severe thunderstorm located 7 miles southeast of Southern Pines, moving southeast at 15 mph.

Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are the main hazard from the storm, forecasters said.
“Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the warning said.
