Turning hotter, more humid again towards end of the week in central NC

It’s about to get much hotter…again. Highs are forecast to soar into the lower 90s from Wednesday through Friday before another cold front ushers in rain chances and slightly cooler weather for the start of the weekend.

Thursday looks to be the hottest of the stretch, with a high of 94. Our next high of 90 degrees or above will be the 70th of the year for RDU.

Behind the cold front, a few showers will linger into Saturday with highs in the upper 80s. The long-range temperature outlook settles into the upper 80s and lower 90s. But there are no immediate signs of a fall-like cooldown on the way.

The tropics are also remaining on the cool side. The historical peak of hurricane season is this Thursday. But there is currently no formation expected for the next 7 days. We’ve yet to see a hurricane this year.
