Billy Edwards Jr. found Shamar Easter for a 75-yard fourth-quarter touchdown, Easter’s only catch of the day on Saturday, to lead the Tar Heels to a 21-17 win over No. 25 Pitt.

Edwards threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, but was also picked off twice by the Panthers. Demon June added a one-yard touchdown plunge in the third quarter that gave North Carolina a 14-10 lead.

Pittsburgh rallied back to re-take the lead on a one-yard touchdown by La’Vell Wright, who scored twice for Pittsburgh (5-1).

UNC held on for the win despite being outrushed 150-20 for the game, and one of the biggest reasons was their defense.

Greg Smith III and Tre Miller intercepted passes from Holden Geriner as Carolina continued its strong defensive play this season.

The first and third quarters were struggles for the Heels (3-2), but the defense forced Pitt to turn the ball over on downs in each of their last three drives of the game. UNC will visit Duke next Saturday.
