Woman arrested in Halifax County in shooting deaths of two VDOT contractors

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The woman wanted in connection with the July shooting deaths of two Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) contractors in Chesterfield County was arrested on Thursday morning in North Carolina.

According to Virginia State Police , 37-year-old Dennikia Rachelle Boyce was found and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on Thursday, in the Halifax County town of Scotland Neck, North Carolina, on a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Boyce was also wanted in Virginia on two counts of second-degree murder in the late July shooting of two VDOT contractors in Chesterfield County, Virginia State Police said.

Virginia police are working with North Carolina authorities to extradite Boyce to Virginia to face the second-degree murder charges. The investigation remains ongoing, police said.

Boyce was charged after 30-year-old Rai’Shon Eugene Delarge and 34-year-old Philip Avery Wilson were shot and killed on VDOT property near the intersection of Route 1 and 288 just before 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24.

Boyce was known to one of the victims, police said.

Authorities have been looking for Boyce for over six weeks and offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to her arrest.
