WILLOW SPRING, N.C. (WNCN) — One person was shot in southern Wake County late Friday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said they were called to the 2400 block of Bud Lipscomb Road near Old Stage Road around 10 p.m. Friday after getting a report that someone was shot. Once on scene, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said.

One person was detained by the sheriff’s office as a person of interest. As of late Friday night, deputies were still on scene investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting.
