KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WNCN) — A popular restaurant in Knightdale has racked up another recognition.

Prime Barbecue, located across the street from Knightdale Station Park, has recently been named one of the top 100 BBQ restaurants in the U.S. by Yelp Elites. It comes in at No. 63 on the list and is one of four in North Carolina to make the cut.
Run by champion pitmaster Christopher Prieto, Prime Barbecue offers smoked meats done in a signature style that combines Prieto’s Texas roots with his years of cooking across the country.
“Prime Barbecue brings together the best of all great BBQ techniques to create something uniquely its own,” the restaurant’s website says. “Our food is steeped in tradition, but given new life.”
The recognition by Yelp Elites is the latest for the Knightdale spot. In November, Prime Barbecue was named a Bib Gourmand award winner by Michelin Guide in its inaugural list for the American South. Earlier in the fall, the restaurant was also named one of the best in the South by Southern Living Magazine.

Prime Barbecue is located at 403 Knightdale Station Run in Knightdale and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until all the food sells out.
Three other North Carolina spots made the list, which is comprised of restaurants specializing in different kinds of barbecue styles, from Japanese to Korean to Mediterranean to American. The other Tar Heel State restaurants are the Smoke Pit in Concord, Jon G’s Barbecue in Peachland and Haywood Smokehouse in Dillsboro.
Overall, Little Miss BBQ-University in Phoenix, which serves central Texas-style barbecue cooked with techniques using Arizona firewood, took the No. 1 spot.
