The fire was reported just before 12:15 a.m. Saturday at 413 Magnolia St., according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
When crews arrived, flames were seen coming from the two-story home, officials said.
Three fire engines were already sent to the scene, but another engine was quickly requested, increasing the total firefighters to 17, the news release said.
“Firefighters initiated an interior attack but backed out due to conditions of the structure and the fire,” officials said in the news release.

Over time, the fire spread throughout the house, causing it to collapse.
Video from a few blocks away by David Brumley showed flames shooting into the sky and a large orange glow around the scene of the house fire.
Three people were displaced and are being assisted by the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
