RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Hope, healing, and wheels will take over Conlon Family Skate Park on Saturday, May 30, to mark the end of Mental Health Awareness Month.

The Bar Ber Shop NC, The Mobile Barber Truck, and nonprofit GRO will all come together to host 988 and Skate.
The unique and free community event will shine a light on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and encourage open conversations around mental health.

“I hope people get more awareness about mental health and mental wellness,” event organizer Reggie Winston said. “I also hope people get more awareness about the number 988 to call and text if you have an emergency or mental health crisis or are considering suicide.”
Families can go out to the park to roller skate, ride scooters, bikes, and skateboards.

The event is free, but skates will be available for rent. They will also offer wellness checks, free haircuts, and food trucks.
