BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) — A driver was reported not injured after their vehicle went about 40 feet down a steep embankment into a tree in Buncombe County.

Crews from the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department were called to the incident Sunday night. At the scene, firefighters reported that the driver was the sole occupant and unable to exit the vehicle.

Crews said they used chainsaws to clear a path through the brush and used ropes & a rescue basket to bring the individual up the embankment and back to the roadway.

Emergency personnel checked thoroughly on the driver following the rescue and stated that the victim refused transport to the hospital, ensuring they suffered no injuries during the crash.
