RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — It was another day of summer-like heat!

Monday made our 14th day in the 90s this year across the area. This comes after Raleigh topped out at nearly 100 degrees on Sunday, setting the hottest temperature of the year so far.

Thankfully, it hasn’t been as hot as it was this week in 2008. A major heat wave sent temperatures soaring to 100 degrees or above for 4 straight days, setting the all-time 100s streak for June.

We haven’t seen 100 degrees yet in 2026, but we have notched multiple record highs.

Last month saw five straight days of record highs, bringing the total for the year to 12 at RDU. That number could go up this week, as more record heat builds through the weekend.

Multiple days in the middle to upper 90s and heat index values in the triple digits look to settle in before a little relief the next week.

The official start of summer is still 13 days away, but it will feel like the heart of the season in the days to come.
