NC 98 in Franklin County to be closed until October for new roundabout: NCDOT

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — A section of N.C 98 in Franklin County will be closed until the fall to install a new roundabout, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.

According to NCDOT, construction on the roundabout began on Monday at 9 a.m.

As part of the roundabout’s installation, according to NCDOT, N.C. 98 and Moores Pond Road will be closed near their intersection.

The roundabout is scheduled to open in October, according to NCDOT.

State officials said detours have been set up for traffic at Satterwhite/Jack Jones Road, N.C. 96 (Zebulon Road) and U.S. 401 (Louisburg Road).

The same day construction began on the Franklin County roundabout, NCDOT said they started storm drain work on Forestville Road in Raleigh.

According to NCDOT, the road will be closed between Buffaloe Road and north of Timberfield Way from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

While the road is closed, according to NCDOT, drivers will be able to use Timberfield Way from either side as a detour.

State officials said the storm drain work is expected to be finished by Friday, but if it is not, crews will continue operations on Saturday, June 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
