RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A fallen tree brought down power lines and temporarily disrupted traffic along Western Boulevard in Raleigh overnight, affecting Wednesday morning commuters.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers responded around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a tree falling onto a vehicle near Method Road.
When officers arrived, they found a woman trapped inside the car. She was safely rescued and was not injured, police said.

The fallen tree also knocked down several power lines, causing a dump truck traveling along Western Boulevard to become entangled in the wires. The truck driver was not injured, according to police.

As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, Duke Energy crews remained at the scene working to restore power to about 12 customers in the area.
A CBS 17 crew at the scene observed workers using a bucket truck to replace a damaged utility pole. One lane of traffic remained closed on Western Boulevard during the repairs, though two lanes had reopened to traffic.
