Party does not stop after Carolina Hurricanes parade; downtown Raleigh bars ready for long day

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The party does not stop in Raleigh after the Carolina Hurricanes’ championship parade Saturday.

Bars along Glenwood South say they are opening early and will be ready to keep the celebration going all day.

The City of Raleigh expects 100,000 Hurricanes fans to flood the streets of downtown Raleigh after the team’s Stanley Cup win.

Fans such as Austin Wise said they are wasting no time to start the celebration.

“I wouldn’t be a true fan if I didn’t go to the parade,” Wise said. “We are ubering to The Avenue at 8:30 in the morning.”

The Avenue sits right on Saturday’s parade route. Staff Friday set up risers for caniacs to watch the parade from the patio and then be able to go straight to the party.

“Making sure everything is stocked ready to go,” The Avenue bartender Nada Hussain said. “We’re expecting it to be going from morning until night.”

The Avenue will be open at 10 a.m. Others, such as Whiskey Rose, will be open at noon.

“Its going to be a really fun day,” The Avenue and Devolve general manager Jeff Green said. “Hopefully, the Cup makes its to Glenwood South at some point.

“I’ve been doing this for a long time in Raleigh,” Green said. “This is unlike anything we have ever experienced.”
