“Don’t mess with Mother Nature,” resident Rick Turlington said.

Turlington lives in the Summerfield neighborhood off of Poole Road, and was sitting on his couch watching TV when suddenly a tree went through his roof.

“Wind came, tree fell; it was just- I don’t know what they call it, but it just happened. You know what everyone says in a split second,” Turlington said.

Nearly every RV in the Summerfield neighborhood had a tree sitting on top of it when CBS17 crews arrived just after 8 p.m. Monday.

“This is a kind of a close community; we don’t expect things like this to happen here,” resident Laurie Varun said.

“Oh my goodness, it was like a bunch of racket on my roof as if something were breaking the roof. Fortunately, my home didn’t have any of that damage, but the tree across the street did fall in front of my house, and it was a huge tree,” Varun said.

Neighbors came out of their homes with chainsaws to help each other out.
