DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Children in Durham County had the opportunity to learn about the sheriff’s office’s Hazardous Device Unit on Tuesday, officials said.

According to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies held a demonstration of the Hazardous Device Unit for children.
The children also got to see Lucky, the newest member of the sheriff’s office’s K-9 unit, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the demonstration is part of a summer educational program partnership with the City of Durham Parks and Recreation.
The Durham County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Device Unit is one of 15 across North Carolina. It is nationally accredited and serves four neighboring counties in addition to Durham County, according to officials.
