Health care changes for state of North Carolina employees

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Employees who work for the state of North Carolina will see changes in their medical benefits in both 2027 and 2028.

The State Health Plan Board of Trustees recently voted in favor of new premium rates, a new tier for the Preferred Provider network, and switching the state’s third-party administrator from Aetna to Blue Cross NC. The Office of the State Treasurer oversees the State Health Plan.
