FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Fayetteville Technical Community College is paying tribute to Dolly Parton.

A life-size cutout of the country legend will be at the college’s Paul H. Thompson Library under a pink balloon arch to celebrate her life, her support of libraries, and her contributions to promoting life and literacy, according to officials.
According to college officials, guests may take pictures with the cutout.
Officials said the cutout will be in the library from Aug. 31 to Sept. 18.
Parton, 80, died on Aug. 25.
According to college officials, Fayetteville Tech is a partner of the United Way of Cumberland County, which runs Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Through this initiative, children from birth to the age of five receive a free book in the mail each month.
The United Way of Cumberland County distributes about 11,000 books each month, according to college officials.

“Dolly Parton’s legacy is so much bigger than the books she gave away,” United Way of Cumberland County Executive Director and CEO Scott Embry said in a statement. “It’s the love of reading she inspired in children and families everywhere.
“Here in Cumberland County, we’ve been blessed to carry that vision forward through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which United Way has proudly championed for more than 20 years,” he continued in his statement.
“Through partnerships with incredible community organizations and generous donors, we’re working together to give more children the foundation they need to become lifelong readers. Dolly showed us what’s possible when we invest in children, and our community is committed to carrying that vision forward, one child, one book, and one partnership at a time.”
