RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Heat and humidity aren’t the only weather issues impacting central North Carolina Thursday.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Raleigh for two counties at 1:17 p.m. Forecasters have put southeastern Franklin County and northern Nash County under the weather alert.

According to NWS Raleigh, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm was located seven miles northeast of Bunn and 10 miles southeast of Louisburg moving northeast at 20 miles per hour. The main hazards with this storm are 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts and penny-sized hail.

Much of central NC is also currently under a heat advisory until 8 p.m.
