A weak cold front will move through central North Carolina this Friday, but the relief from the heat will be small and not last long.

Tuesday was the 6th day in a row with highs in the 90s, and there are three more to go, with some changes this weekend.
Highs on Wednesday will be back in the mid-90s with heat index temperatures just above 100°. While the temperatures won’t be record-setting or the hottest of the year, it will still be dangerous in the afternoon.
The heat will also help fuel storms again on Wednesday, but it should be more isolated in nature. Damaging winds are still possible, along with lightning and heavy rain. Thursday will be a drier day, but still hot and humid, with highs in the mid-90s but feeling like the triple digits.
A cold front then arrives Friday, bringing a slight uptick in rain chances and a slight drop in temperatures and humidity in time for the weekend. Upper 80s return for one day on Saturday before surging right back into the lower 90s on Sunday.
Every day has at least a pop-up rain chance until the middle half of next week. By then, more sunshine and dry weather should return to the mix before signs point towards another surge of intense heat for the second half of the month.

WEDNESDAY will be partly cloudy with a few showers and storms. The high will be 95 with a heat index near 100. Winds will be out of the west at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
OVERNIGHT will be mostly cloudy with gusty storms ending after midnight. The low will be 74. Winds will be southwest 5 miles per hour.
THURSDAY will be partly cloudy. The high will be 95 with a heat index back near 100. Winds will be out of the west at 5 miles per hour.
