Join the Carolina Firebirds for annual back-to-school shoe and book drive

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Carolina Firebirds are back with their annual back-to-school shoe and book drive.

The back-to-school drive will take place this Saturday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at John Chavis Memorial Park and Gym in Raleigh.

Carolina Firebirds owner Wade Harris said the event is about helping each other.

“There are people in this community outside of their family who support them [and] will rally around them so that they can be prepared to go back to school and are mentally and physically ready to go compete in the classroom,” he said.

This exciting event will feature food, music, and a fun basketball tournament for everyone to enjoy.
