RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Among the many damage scenes brought on by Tuesday night’s storms was a tragic loss at a home near Raleigh.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in the 5100 block of Bartons Enclave Lane to assist other fire and EMS crews after a large tree fell onto a home just before 10 p.m.
Those first responders found an adult male who had been trapped inside the home, and the EMS crew pronounced that man dead at the scene. He was one of three individuals in the home at the time, according to the sheriff’s office.

No others were injured as a result of the tree collapsing on the home.

CBS 17’s Haylee Kennedy was on the scene, where she spoke with the homeowner, who is the daughter of the man pronounced dead. She told us he was asleep at the time of the tree falling.

“The Wake County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
The man’s death remains an ongoing investigation by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
