RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A missing Raleigh man considered endangered was rescued after being found near the Haw River in Chatham County Thursday morning, officials said.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the man was last seen driving a vehicle on Monday before he was reported missing.
On Thursday morning, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, the man was located in “difficult terrain” near the Haw River near Pittsboro.
A helicopter was used to access the area and rescue the man, according to the sheriff’s office. Crews were searching the area of the Haw River near the U.S. 64 bridge.

Deputies said the man was injured, but not seriously. He was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for evaluation.
The North Chatham Fire Department, Pittsboro Fire Department, Chatham County Emergency Management, North Carolina Emergency Management and the NC Helo-Aquatic Rescue Team, and FirstHealth helped the sheriff’s office with the rescue.
“Situations like this show the importance of the relationships we have with our local and state emergency response partners,” Chatham County Sheriff Steve Maynor said in a statement. “When someone needs help, our agencies work together to bring the resources needed to get that person to safety.”
