NC 12 reopens at OBX between Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe after heavy rains

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — NC 12, the key road running through the Outer Banks, has reopened between Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe after portions were flooded Friday morning.

The flooding was a result of heavy rainfall, with NCDOT stating that some areas had received as much as seven inches of rain over the past couple of days.

NCDOT provided images of some of the flooding. Before the section was closed, some cars managed to make in through the high waters on NC 12.

The National Weather Service says North Carolina can expect scattered showers for the Outer Banks area on Saturday.

Parts of central North Carolina received more than 7 inches of rain from Monday to Friday.

However, temps are forecast to cool down Saturday night with drier conditions expected on Sunday, according to the CBS 17 Storm Team.
