RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two Raleigh churches are joining forces this weekend to help local families prepare for the upcoming school year.

New Elevation Church and Praise Worship Tabernacle Ministries will host a back-to-school event and community day Saturday, Aug. 8, at New Elevation Church, located at 3500 Buffaloe Road in Raleigh.
Organizers say the event will offer an afternoon of activities and resources for children and families.

“So, we want to make sure everyone is loved, they feel safe, they have someone to lean on,” event organizer Cardre Pope said.
The first 50 children at the event will receive free hot dogs, chips and drinks. Free school supplies, haircuts and hair braiding services will also be available.
