RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a severe thunderstorm warning for two counties in central North Carolina early Monday morning.

Central Cumberland County and northwestern Sampson County are under the severe thunderstorm warning, according to the NWS.
According to the NWS, the warning was issued after a severe thunderstorm was located eight miles south of Fayetteville moving east 25 m.p.h.
The NWS said Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Eastover, Roseboro, Stedman, Wade, Salemburg, Falcon, Autryville, and Vander are among the impacted locations, including Interstate 95 between mile markers 61 and 41.

According to the NWS, hazards include quarter sized hail. Damage to vehicles is expected.
The NWS is asking residents in the effected areas to move to a room in the lowest floor of a building.

The warning is scheduled to expire at 5:30 a.m., according to the NWS.
