The rain and cooler temperatures were nice while they lasted, but a warm-up begins Friday that will eventually have us back in the mid-80s by next week.

Wednesday and Thursday’s highs in the 60s were only the 2nd and 3rd days this month with below-average high temperatures. Now, a warm-up begins after a somewhat chilly start Friday morning in the lower 50s.
Friday will slowly see the clouds give way to sunshine throughout the day, with highs near 70°.
Saturday and Sunday will be dry, mostly sunny, and mild, with highs in the mid-70s. Morning temperatures both days this weekend will also stay in the mid-to-lower 50s.
Next week we continue to warm into the 80s by Tuesday, with a few showers back in the forecast by next Friday. There are no signs of 90s anywhere on the 10-day forecast.
In the tropics, Fay is back as a tropical storm 2000 miles away from the North Carolina coast, and it is not expected to impact the East Coast. There’s also a disturbance coming off Africa with a high chance of tropical development over the next week. But models take any system to the north, posing no threat to the East Coast.

We’ve now gone the longest in a hurricane season without a hurricane since 1914. There are no signs of that changing anytime soon, with a little more than two months remaining in the Atlantic hurricane season.
FORECAST
FRIDAY will have decreasing clouds with warmer temperatures. The high will be 69.
OVERNIGHT will be mostly clear and cool. The morning low will be 52.
SATURDAY will be mostly sunny and warmer. The high will be 75.
